Caller ID identified this caller only as "New York". I didn't answer. An automated message was left stating "This is IRS" (not "This is the IRS" - bad English). It told me they were filing a law suit against me, and to call them immediately at 202-738-1919. It was also weird because of the way they said the number to call. They said "202738.1919" (202738 point 1919), like they were unfamiliar with American phone numbers.
718 745 5293 has been consistently calling our home.
We live in Canada
This evening my son answered the phone. The individual with a thick accent asked for me by name. He indicated that he was calling from Visa. Due to my good standing with a particular Canadian Bank, Visa was interested in lowering my interest rate and increasing my credit limit. I asked him to repeat the name of the bank. I indicated that I am not a client of the bank named. He then changed to name another Canadian Bank (that sounds similar to the first). When I indicated that I am not a client of either of the banks and that I do not have a visa card, and then asked him who he was trying to contact, he hung up the phone.
I have contacted the banks in question to ensure they are aware of the situation.
Called my do-not-call (Canadian Government Registry) number at 12:47 Pacific today.
I was not home, and caller did not leave a message.
I don't know anybody in New York, and the USA's IRS does not know me, and my Microsoft Windows system is not virus-infected.
Scammer. CallerID showed "Unavailable". Probably a "spoofed" telephone-number generated by the scammer.
Got a call from this 718-745-5293 - "Mr Number" marked is a spam and so I didn't answer it. Called back, out of curiosity, call could not be connected.
