First National Bank has sent letters to about 400,000 customers warning them their records may have been compromised by a breach at a third-party credit card processor.
The Omaha-based bank's customers are being affected by the breach that New Jersey-based Heartland Payment Systems disclosed last month.
Heartland has said its system used to process Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card transactions was breached late last year.
First National of Nebraska runs a nationwide credit card business and owns banks in Nebraska, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota and Texas. The company has about $21 billion in assets.
