The person called me this morning from this number +052612550 and demanded that I would something like 5,000, on a payday loan that I never got. The persons used the name Michael and asked that I call him back @ 1-718-971-5814. The first number is out of Germany and the second is from New York. When I called this Michael person back they verifed my info. They had my home address, account number and bank name to a closed account, and my SSN. Also, informed me that I will lose my job, be arrested, and go to jail. Which at this point I informed him that I havent work since 11-09, and that you can't arrest and jail someone for a fake debt or anyother debt. He then got very hostle with me cursing and such. I proceeded to end the call with Jesus loves you and have a blessed day, at this time he called me a B**** and hung up. Never once durning the phone call did he say the suppossed name of the payday loan company, amount of the loan, or the date it was supossedly take out. I have to agree with many in this forum that they need to be stopped. Scammers are getting out of control. Exspecialy when they are calling you from an out of country number, but then have you call a US number that routes to them.

Report This
What I have found is that you have to push with your reporting. I didn't just got to the IC3.gove website, I called my FBI field office. I called my state Homeland Security and Secret Service Offices. I called my state police instead of my local police. And when they called, I told them this. A SS agent actually called them back on my behalf and I haven't had a call since. I have tracked numbers and reported them to the telcomm companies that own them.

The FBI has received over 10,000 compliants. THe officer I spoke to made calls to our regional office and then at a national level. From what he tells me, this is not being looked at as a scam anymore, but attempted extirtion ring, and it is being actively investigated. THe FTC is also actively investigating this and says they are VERY close to closing in on several perpetrators. There have been a number of people on these boards contacting DATELINE NBC- enough of us that they are actively researching and putting together a story....... and I encourage anyone here to do so. Please e-mail your stories to [email protected]. Anyone with saved messages, or especially if you have paid these scammers, Dateline wants to talk to you.

These kinds of scams can only go on so long. Continue to post your knowledge of this scam anywhere you can!!!! There is power in numbers!

received a phone call from an Indian-accented male who claimed to be Alex Warner who left message on my answering machine that he was calling about a payday loan outstanding.  I have had previous calls from other Indian-accented males who identify themselves as "Officers" and have threatened me with legal action if I did not pay on a fictitious pay day loan.  Those calls were reported to the local police in my city and a call was made to the number which was determined to be a scam by the police.  I was informed that the police could not do anything because they were not able to determine where the call was originating from...most likely out of the country, is what they said.  So, now I am to just ignore them, but it is very frustrating and the last individual I actually spoke with swore at me when I informed him I had reported his name and number and then hung up on me.  I called him back immediately and he again swore and hung up.  Scammers!!!!!!!
