Answered and this said it was Google and there was a problem with my business listing and I MUST press 1 or my customers won't be able to find my website online any more.

I pressed one because I just started my business.  Brandon claimed he was with Google but I was concerned because Brandon also claimed that they would make my website on the first page for Google, Bing and Yahoo. I thought that was strange because I believe that  Bing and Google are competing for searchers to use their site. So I asked about the cost Brandon told me that it would cost $99.00 a month for the first year and $49.00 a month there after. I asked him to send me the information in an email and I am still waiting.

When I answered the phone by saying "Hello," a recorded voice told me to "Press 1 if I don't want to receive calls from this number." I did not press 1 but I did stay on the line without talking at all to see if a live human came on. After about a minute of silence, I hung up. I never got to the "Google" solicitation.

Phone-based scammers are getting more and more sophisticated.  I wish the NSA would use some of our billions of tax dollars to bring these people to justice.

Got a call from this number claiming that it was from Google Plus and that my business' Google Plus account was in need of attention.

As this sounded like a classic phishing scam, the number was local, (Denver - Google is in CA, no?), and despite many years experience with SEO, web and online site and business development, I have NEVER heard of Google calling, especially for something as trivial as an incomplete 'Plus listing, I hung up.

In fact, try to find a number to call Google directly about your Google Plus page! Google is not really into phone calls.

99.9% sure it is a scam - some fly-by-night web marketing scheme to get technically unsophisticated biz owners to pony up big money for promises of services the caller can't and won't be able to deliver on.

Google will tell you (for free) the only way to get to page 1 is to actually be the best resource for your given search phrase.  I should know - this is my business.

The modern day equivalent of the man selling black top paint for your driveway door to door that washes away after the first rain.

Want to get one page 1?  Create good content for real people that is informative and up to date.  Then keep your social media and blog content up dated.  Not super complicated.  Like exercise, 30 min 2-3 times a week.
