The woman on the phone was VERY rude & asked if I was receiving my magazines. I do not order magazines so I said that I used to get mailers from Reader's Digest but cancelled them. She informed me that their company pre-pays for sending these magazines out and they cannot be cancelled. She then tried to tell me that I owe $49.95. I informed her that it is impossible to owe anything as I have never received any magazines, nor order any at anytime. This to me is a scam to get cash and your information. Somehow, she knew my mailing address.. :/
These people are low life, bottom feeders. After filling the young lady's ear full of some of the most vile language one can imagine, I highly doubt they will call me again...
This is a "spoofed" number, these people are scam artists who hire people in Arizona and California among other places, give them a list to read off of and lie to them about what they are doing. They have a whole bunch of crap they will tell you that leads you to give up information. They ave been reported numerous times and they just keep changing the company names and other information to hide themselves. If you sign up for anything like a mailing list for a grocery store for instance, your info is sold and the scam calls start. Once you answer the phone, they will never stop calling because they know they have a live one. Just don't answer any calls from numbers you don't know, if it really is important they will leave a message, and even then, look up the number online to make sure who it is, and if you get calls from someone you think might be legit, ask them to identify the account they are calling about and verify the information before giving out anything. Also, do the rest of us a favor and report the jerks
The number I got the call from was 303-232-4333. Lady tried to get me to pay with a credit card and then they send a paid in full statement. I told her if the magazines I get, which I thought I got from accumulated points from my husbands credit card are the ones she's referring to then cancel them all send me a final bill and I will pay it. She tried to tell me that they work hand in hand with the credit bureau and that once I "pay this bill" they will give me a good credit rating. I repeated what I said about the final bill. She rudely said "Thank You" and hung up on me. I even said if you guys are automated, then you should be able to send me some sort of documentation to my email address because computers talk to other computers.
