Thanks for the info. Using methods other than phone calls for candidate fund raising would be best, IMO. But, if they are going to call at least indicate in the caller ID who/what they are calling on behalf of -- that would be a legitimate and informative use of spoofing. I would have probably answered if I had known what the call was about. I think the calling is over -- at least I didn't get a call today.
Received first call from this number a few minutes ago (~ 10:30 MDT, 07/17/13). I was out and didn't answer and the voice mail/answering machine is turned off because it seems that these nuisance callers are more likely to call back if they get any response at all, including an answering machine. Besides that, the caller ID name displayed was "DENVER CO" and I never answer just city - state identified calls anyway.
I suspect this may be the Senior Safeline Alert (in Florida) gang's latest fake number because they haven't tried to extort money from me via 605-413-1048 for two whole days now and it is really very unusual for them to go that long without harassing me from some spoofed number. But, from what I see reported, the 720-452 numbers seem to be a favorite of pathetic Indian (the subcontinent) scammers too.
I receive calls from this number almost every day. I now have it on call rejection but it's still a PITA. I have filed a complaint on the Colorado Do Not Call List and the National Do Not Call List. I tried calling this number back and always get a message from Qwest that "All circuits are busy now, please try again later" so I can't even tell them to stop calling. Everyone else should also file complaint at the above sites!
I wonder if we could call forward this number to itself?
As of today 31 July 2013 this phone number 720-452-5677, (720) 452-5677 is being used by...
Tom Tancredo for Colorado Governor
I called the number back and it specifically goes through all the b.s. DoNotCall.gov exemptions because it's political and how to remove yourself from their calling list.
