I called the number back and reached a VM that said "You have reached the fund raising center for leading children and health organizations....." and then the line started to make weird, high-pitched scratchy sounds. I believe it to be a scam because I've never heard of an "center" that essentially claims to be in charge of multiple fund raising causes. And, if they are a legitimate organization, I believe they would leave a VM. I've added this number to my growing list of spam calls
This number called and after a hesitation asked for party and said hello again and then hung up. I didn't answer call as I don't know number that called!
They called me and stated they were from the Colorado Police Protection Association. This is just one of the organizations they fund raise for. When I asked how much they give to charity (as I always do) they said 14%. Also, their donations are not tax deductible. Save your money for a real charity. These guys are professional fund raisers, not to be confused with charitable organizations. You are contributing to their wealth, not the general good. If you give to one of their fake charities, you will then be called by more and more of them.
This is one of those ridiculous fraudulent charities that supposedly raises money for a cause, but then gives less than 1% and keeps the rest.
This time, the pitch sounded like it was for some police protective organization, but they didn't give a name and it was hard to make much out because the guy on the phone was literally screaming at me from the beginning and wouldn't stop when I tried to interrupt him.
Seriously. They called MY house and started yelling at me right off the bat, which I've heard is a common tactic to intimidate people into giving money.
I'm not scared of some loser who can't get a better job than that, though.
My number blacklist app instantly (and successfully), auto-blocked five successive robo attempts to interrupt my evening meal with whatever scam they are trying to perpetrate. Sometimes we win. If enough of our legislators had the gonads to actually put these vermin predators in jail we'd have significantly more peace in our lives. But then, someone else checks their email and answers their phones for them.
