The DNC works just fine. It is for telemarketers only and honest business does indeed abide by it. It is the criminals (which includes illegal telemarketers), frauds and scammers that do not.
The DNC filed complaints are used by all agency's. You can also file complaints directly with the FTC & FCC as well. The fact remains that they are not automatic call blockers though and can not protect you from the calls that are criminal, illegal or fraudulent.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or less.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
