Serious tax scammers. History on on 800notes. Apparently they are now using the Form 941 Pitch (Employers Report of Withheld Wages) to make an employer think that there may be some problem with the required quarterly report.
Calls from a variety of numbers. So far as I can see, they are not attorneys , nor are the Enrolled Agents. Or CPAs. Basically they search the public records for existing recorded tax liens, and then cold call the taxpayer .
Or they simply cold call businesses to sell tax services. They have a history of not taking “No” for an answer. Some of their agents will assert they are with the IRS. Other times they will say they are Enrolled Agents. A very rude crew. Will call repetitively if you blow them off.
They use the magic word "IRS" to try to scare people into buying their services
Ignore the calls and block them. These people are extremely aggressive. If the callers claim to be in any sort of regulated profession, demand their state ID numbers, or IRS number if they claim to be EAs.
Of course they won't be able to give it to you. So simply hang up and block the calls.
I am and Enrolled Agent with the IRS (inactive) and I can tell you that for any sort of complex tax problem, you should only hire members of regulated professions that deal in tax matters. That would be tax attorneys, CPSs or Enrolled Agents.
In any event, this Phoenix Financial Group is clearly a scammery-scummery sort of an outfit. I wouldn’t hire them for anything.
Their website is confusing. They claim to have EAs on their staff, but then claim that the corporation itself is an Enrolled Agent. But according to the Secretary of State of Colorado, Phoenix Financial Group is a trade name of something called
Alexander and Jeremy, Inc.
