Anyone trying to raise funds over phone in todays time will get nothing from me, I can not tell a scam for sure however I never give money over the phone.

The caller said she was from Breast Cancer Fund- I thought they had been investigated several years ago because the money was not going to where they said.

The approach was similar to other experiences described. The woman stated she was employed with a professional fundraising firm, whose name was so rapidly stated I could not understand it. She described her reason for the call, fundraising for Breast Cancer Research to support needs in the USA and internationally. Many more details followed. After she paused long enough to breathe, I said that was a lot of information, and I would like to study the details, since it was delivered so quickly. I asked for a web address for more information. She did not respond to my request.
Instead, she asked to put an amount $25 in the custom invitation that would be sent to me, into a mailing and described there was a cost to prepare this mailing, and it would be easier to make the contribution and save that expense for the organization. All statements formulated by the woman ended with a yes/no question, calling for my positive response, such as "wouldn't you agree", etc.
Again, I asked for a website address, a callback telephone number, and the name of the organization and stated that I was happy to read information online and discuss this opportunity with my family.
Phase 2: The next section of the seemingly pre-written script was launched into without answering my questions. I politely interrupted, that without more information I was not interested, and I asked to have my number removed from her call list, to add my name and number to the required "Do-Not-Call List", and I would request that my contact information would not be given or sold to other solicitors, and the woman ended the call.
They're a real pill to try and get rid of, as are all "breast cancer" solicitors, or cancer solicitors in general. I know for several weeks on end I had at least one daily call from some kind of breast cancer charity on my land line before they gave up. A good number of these calls are authentic sounding, but are actually robocalls, and are a BIG MISTAKE of getting mixed up with. You agree to contribute, you'll be harassed nonstop by both phone and mail until you do. And if you agree to once, your name is placed on a "sucker list" and you'll be pestered with other charities you never knew existed, often with the same solicitor you talked to.
I've been getting a slew of Breast Cancer money donation requests from an impressive amount of different numbers and names. I suspect they are calling from different numbers to avoid blocking. I will not donate to someone just calling on the as too big of a risk that my hard earned money could be misappropriated. I will donate to a local Breast cancer charity where there are checks and balances
