SCAM!! - As everyone has stated, they claim to have detected a virus on your "Windows" computer. They 'imply' they are working for Microsoft and that a correction is required for you to continue using your PC. They will step you through directions on opening a 'remote connection' to your computer. They then ask you to provide the 'security code - created by your computer' that will give them remote access to your computer. Once you do that, you 'deserve what you get'!! Never provide remote access to your computer. Some FACTS: (1) They do NOT know your IP address. (2) Microsoft will NOT contact you. (3) They are NOT located in Colorado, they are located overseas; probably in India. They are using a VoIP service which is allowing them to use a "phone number" they have obtained; this does not mean they own the number, just decided they want to use it. (4) They are aggressive and will threaten you when you challenge them. (5) They can not do anything except harass you with calls all day and night - use your carrier call block feature. (6) If your carrier does not have a call block feature, you can call your carrier and request they block the number from calling you. (7) If you did give your credit card info to the, immediately contact your card company and report the fraud. Your card company can also 'black list' the company if they get enough complaints of fraud. (8) Finally, if you gave them access to your PC you MUST undo everything they have done. On your windows PC, search for 'system restore' and restore your PC to a previous date (one that predates the remote access).
Ok I have had it!!! 38 calls in 4 days......half of them using a automated dialer to connect....I called them out on it and they said oh you will be sorry your computer is this and that I started singing "tiptoe through the tulips" and they hung up... I guess they did not like my singing
I keep on getting this call twice a day at least. Lately I'v been telling them that I don't understand to computers and I want to come down to their office to fix it. First they say it's in London. The next day they tell me they're located in Brooklyn.
