On the evening of Oct 3, I received a call from Heather who said she was calling from Better Homes and Gardens to tell me my subscription was up for renewal. Since that didn't sound correct to me, I asked her when the subscription was up. She paused for a moment, told me she was looking the information up and said it expires October 2014. She offered three years for $30. I asked her if my subscription had anyone else on it as I do have my daughter on this subscription, too. No, she told me, no on else.
I had my new issue still in it's plastic mailing bag so checked the expiration date: February 2016. I then opened up the envelope in the bag to look at the early renewal notice that came with it ; there is my daughter's information along with mine. I told Heather I had my current magazine and my subscription had a February 2016 expiration; she became flustered and told me she would tell her supervisor. Then, she told me to call Better Homes and Gardens customer service to tell them their records are wrong. I should have but didn't point out to her that she said she was from Better Homes so why would I need to call them when she is supposed to be "them."
I did a *69 to confirm that the phone number that came up in my phone display was really 720-560-3590; it was. I then dialed the number and received a message that said this was an unanswered phone number for Graven, Austin and Drake. I've looked them up on the internet to discover they are a somewhat sleazy telemarketer. I totally agree based on my experience. They are liars and deceivers.
