Received a call from "Scott" who is working with the Republican campaign... I immediately advised him I was on the No-Call List, that he was adding insult to injury by calling me on my cell phone, and to please immediately remove me from the list. So he went into [***] mode and LECTURED me about double checking my status on the no-call list - - what?!! you're the one calling me you idiot! how about YOU check your phone list/talk to your supervisor to get my number OFF your telemarketing list ! so I told him that, and he had the audacity to tell me it didn't work that way, that I was auto-dialed by a phone system, and that he was being "nice" by giving me this advice. And I'm ashamed to say I lost my cool & hung up on him.
TRIED to submit a formal complaint via the National Do Not Call Registry, but was unable to... apparently political organizations are EXEMPT from the do not call list... Seriously?!! UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE. "The National Do Not Call Registry does not limit calls by political organizations, charities, or telephone surveyors"
LESSON: don't pick up your phone if you don't recognize the number.
Here is a secret to only getting one call per phone line from a political org. When they call you once on that line... they gotcha. But what you do is to put that phone # into your cell and label it with the candidate's name. They might get you once per call but you can ignore the rest of them from at least that line. And the beauty of cell phones is that if you get another call from let's say Ron Paul just as that number to your already listed number. ;)
FYI: this number left a VM but it had no voice on it and it was short.
