Got a call from this number today at noon. Missed to answer. The man left a message. He said his name is Tom Schmeichel; It’s about state tax for the company (he got the company name wrong). He asked to call back at 844-872-3874. I went online and found much negative comments about the number 720-974-9245. I erased the message.
Someone called several times today from this number and left no message. On the fourth call I picked up. A man said he was from 2020 Tax Resolution Services. He claimed too be calling about urgent tax information on a pending tax lean from the state. We have no such lean or tax issue. He said he needed to verify that I was an owner or a broad member before he could discuss financial information. I asked him to further explain who he was and why he was calling. Again he said he could not divulge that information without knowing who I was. I then explained that if the company had any real tax issues that I was certain the proper government agency would contact us and not some unknown third party. I continued, stating that I thought he was "fishing". To which he became abrupt and slightly argumentative (but still tried to hold on to his facade). He explained that he was building a case to assist us and said that there was no reason to speak to me. I asked to be removed from his calling list at which point he seemed to become even closer to full anger repeated himself and hung up.
I then searched the internet to find several people reporting the number. After a few moments I called the number back. A man answered who sounded like the same person. He pretended to be at some private number. I asked to speak to a manager there at 2020 Tax Resolution the person said that it wasn't any such company and that no one called me from the number. Even though I called directly from my caller ID and could not have miss-dialed the number.
Keep calling saying that he had information for the owner only. I hung up but he kept ringing the phone. What has to be done in order to track down or disable this person?
Very similar to PA Ca's experience. Tax Lien scam. Tell them nothing. Hang up - and if you're really motivated, report it to your state's Attorney General's office.
