They called me at work too and I have no idea what it is about. I don't want to return their call. It sounds kind of quirky - did you call them? What did they say?
Got a call from 'Unknown' number. It left a message. The message was from a man w/a think Indian accent "This call is intended for ....... Do not disregard this message ...... You need to return this call or your chosen legal representative. If I do not hear back from you or your legal representative well all I can say is Good Luck to you in this legal matter." The man stated his name was Jeff Marsh. I has also received a call from same man on 2/11/10 stating the same information - needed to call them or have my attorney call them and that I was in for harsh legal action if I didn't return their call. The number he left yesterday to call was 724-365-9968. The number he left to call back on 2/11/10 was 424-744-4002. There really isn't much you can do about this. What it is is that these people have bought a defaulted internet payday loan that you had and they are trying to collect on it. If you do call them back and ask them what it is about they will give you just enough information to scare you (threaten you with being arrested or taking your home away, etc.) if you do not pay the huge amount they demand. If you don't agree to pay via western union or moneygram then they will threaten you again. Unfortunately if you do fall for this scheme and do pay them they will keep calling back and asking for more and more money. They have been contacting me off and on for the past 3 1/2 years and unfortunately I did pay them several times b/c I didn't know any better and since they have gotten money out of me before they keep calling me back. I am working with a debt solutions group to pay back any unpaid IPL's that I have and have been informed by the DS group not to answer the calls b/c if I do answer them then I go to the top of the call list b/c i did respond. The more they call and when you don't respond the less frequent the calls will become. Since the begining of february they were calling 2-3 x's a day...I received a call from them last friday and then not again until yesterday afternoon so it seems like I may be going down on the list. The best advice I can give you is to work to pay back your loans if you have any (if you pay these guys your loans will still be in default and not paid to the original lender and you'll still owe the IPL's), Get with a debt solutions group and do what you can to pay things back. Do not answer calls from numbers you don't recognize and don't call back these people. Call the police or BBB and file a complaint. They are not allowed to threaten you or harass you with arrest, etc. Hope this helps some of you out. Good Luck!
Yes I just checked this out after I paid them some money. They did call my job and threaten to have me taken from my job and to court. I will request some form of reciept or they will not recieve anything else from me. My question to you is after you sent them money was your debt ever settled with them?
Well, I almost fell for the scam. But, luckily I did my homework--like imputing this number. They called and left me a seriously threatening message, and I did call them back. I found out that by asking numberous questions, they couldn't provide believable information. I got enough information from them to prove that ALL their information is BOGGESS! (Although they provided "real" addresses, company names, phone numbers, etc. that are traceable, but just WRONG). Every time I asked them a legitimate question-- about who they are and who they represent they paused every single time prior to responding. It seems to me that they are a MASSIVE family of CON ARTISTS who will sooner than later be found and taken to court themselves! They are in NO WAY going to get away with what they are doing! I have meesages recorded on my phone, and enough provided information to press charges. Don't let them waste your time like they did mine. They tried to convince me that I had a payday loan (which I've never ever had in my life) and that they had all my personal identity information, etc. I have all bank statements and internet spam logs to prove this never happened. Keep your eyes open. I closed my bank accounts just in case. I say GOOD LUCK to them as they get arrested in this ILLEGAL operation they are trying to pull!!!!!!!!!!!!
