I didn't answer, but if it's what the person above me says, then this is a NEW SCAM. They get you to say "YES" and they record the call and later use it for a verification to approve purchases. DO NOT ANSWER or I truly hope you said "NO!"
They called saying they were looking for donations for the police department. Don't know if it's a scam or not. I called the number back and a recording of the same guy I talked to saying if you want your named removed from our calling list press 2.
Scam call. Some alleged "national police" something or other. When I get these kind of calls (where I don't recognize the number), my objective is to keep these clowns on the line as long as possible. Sometimes I ask them to repeat the "organization"'s name, and then their name, and their employee number. If they ask why, I say I'm going to do an internet search of your organization to see if you're legit. If you're not, take me off your $%^&*( call list and add me to your &*((U((* do-not-call list. I also keep a police whistle right at the phone. When I hear anything other than an American-style accent, they get the whistle. Sometimes, I tell them to wait a moment, then I put the phone down and go back to doing whatever I was doing. They will eventually get the message.
If I were going to give money to a police charity, it's going to be my local police department, and they won't be using a telephone solicitor.
Called number back when they did not answer my hello's. Got a recording saying if you didn't want you number on their list to press #2. Couldn't do it fast enough. I'm tired of these people soliciting!!!!
