They have called me several times each time saying this was going to be their final call. I wait for the prompt to press one to speak to someone. They keep calling even when asked not to. One call I even asked how many final calls I would get. These people are very annoying. They do not have any consideration for peoples privacy. I am even on the do not call list.
Received a phone call from the "ever so friendly" credit card services. It is so nice that they want to help me with my credit card debt even though I don't have any. I get a call from Rachel, Tiffany or their new friend, Heather, just about every other day. They must be very busy because they are constantly moving from one state to another and apparently never sleep since they call at all hours. My only wish is for one thing...that they and the creeps behind these calls would fall off the face of the earth and die. Press 1 and you are doomed. Press 3 and you are doomed. Don't answer at all and you are doomed since your phone rang, they know it is a working number. I am constantly amazed that people think the Do Not Call list gives them any protection. Almost everyone that complains on sites like this says they are on that list, which is such a coincidence. Where do you think these scammers got your number from in the first place? I have been on that DNC for years and look where it has gotten me. I have literally filed hundreds of complaints on that site. I recently saw an article that said how many complaints they got just last year. I find it very comforting that they are counting them because least they are doing something. By the way, the list of options for caller types below should include "scammers" Telemarketers is much too kind of a word and they are usually trying to sell you something, unlike credit card services which really only wants to take something away from you......your money.
Actually, I was getting calls from Heather about four or five years ago; so, I don't think she is new, but rather recycled.
According to the following article, and others you can find with a little searching, this de facto crime gang was shut down in mid 2012. At least one or two of the organizers should still be in jail according to the article; but, maybe they scammed their way out of prison -- or sold their scam to somebody else -- or somebody else just took it over. Note the last sentence in the article that reads: "Our Postal Inspectors tracked them down, and the detailed evidence we gathered helped to hang up their phones, once and for all.” Duh, I think he was mistaken.
As far as I'm concerned, it would be good practice for our NSA to track them down and good practice for our CIA to use their drones to make sure this plague of scammers falls of the face of the earth permanently. At least strengthen the laws allowing the confiscation of every last penny of wealth these people have. (It wouldn't surprise me if at least some of these scams are being financed with government grants and loans.) As a society we've become too damn tolerant and are allowing corrupt scamming bullies to rule.
I didn't answer the call because calls showing a caller ID name of some city, state ("MARS PA" in this instance) are invariably nuisance calls at best. I then blocked the number which will likely provide a few days of peace from them until their next new number.
I live in So. Cal. Got this on home landline. I picked up phone, but said nothing. Recorded female voice said I had been " selected from Credit Card Services. To lower your interest rate, press 1 and speak to a representative. To decline, press 2"
I did neither and quietly waited but the call automatically disconnected. They are now blocked.
Called today and told me I have very good credit and they can lower my interest rate. Press 1 to be connected to a representative or press 2 to decline. I pressed 2 but that won't stop them. Same story but at a different location. I am on the DNC list but still get calls from "card services"
