Thanks, I think these are a great ideas. There might be a problem if you only get a recording requesting your name and phone number. I leave my senator's (2) office phone number and name as well as my congressional representative's phone number. Remember they are the ones that wrote the telemarketing law without teeth so let them suffer as we have. If they are bothered enough maybe they will do their job.
Called today w/ Private Number-- not a local number, so I didn't answer. No message left. Unknown yet whether telemarketer. Will wait to see if others post. Out of FL, I don't know anyone there.
Other sites are indicating that this may be home security scammers. If so, the caller is NACO Marketing Group out of Fl, owned by Mr & Mrs Alberino. Here is that info.
The security company doesn't know that they hired liars and wil be willing to help you if you follow these steps:
1) Schedule the appointment and confirm all appointment times - do not pay for anything, insist that you will pay installer.
2) File a do not call complaint with your state Dept of Justice and with the federal govt, including all call times and numbers.
3) When the installer arrives, tell him you you filed a complaint due to the telemarketing company.
4) Take their picture with your cellphone camera. Take a picture of their vehicle license plate. Ask to see their employee ID ( most states, like NC require them to show it) and write down their name.
5) hand the installer a piece of paper with your State DOJ case number and the DOJ phone number.
6) they will leave out of $55+ for their time wasted just like they wasted yours.
7) update your open case with the new information and photos.
In the coming weeks the following things will happen:
- the security company will be contacted by the DOJ and they will rat out the telemarketing company
- the security company will end up paying the fine if the state isn't able to contact the telemarketing company.
- the telemarketing company will reconsider telemarketing as a legitimate marketing method due to the cost per sale which will now include these fines and time wasted.
- eventually if we all do this the telemarketing company will get a bad rap and will go out of business or be delegated to calls for politicians and surveys.
