Posted an item on Craig's list and within 1 hour of post had a text from a Robert wanted to mail a check and after cashed he would send somebody to pickup. Scammer I looked up number on Google as it was not in my area code. Be careful.
Person texted me - wanted to buy item unseen and have someone else come and pick it up. Then said he would mail a check and once I cash it let him know and he'll send people over to come pick up the item. Told him I only deal in cash or Paypal transfers.
Number texted me asking about an item I had listed on Craigslist. I noticed the number was from an area code nowhere near mine and immediately replied that any attempts at scamming would be reported to the FBI. The number never texted back again.
I got a text from a person who claimed to be Randy Stenberg wanting to send me a check for the full asking price of a item that I listed on Craigslist. He did not ask any questions about the item and was quick to want mailing info so he could send me a check and have someone pick up the item. This area code is several states away from me so I was concerned and looked up the number. Then I found out that almost the same thing has happened from this number to others posting on this site. Thank You for your post and helping me not to be scammed.
I got a text from a Randy Stenberg at this number, he wanted my name and mailing address so he would send me a check for a vehicle I listed on Craigslist...I asked him if he could send money orders so he wouldn't have to wait for the check to clear but he insisted to send a check via mail(?).. last time I checked the post office sold money orders! But he also said once the check clears he would send a shipper to pick it up. Buyers beware!
AH - the "Oops I overpaid you (or I can't come to see the item) so wire money to the shipper" scam. Of course the "shipper" is the same person & the check will eventually bounce. Craigslist has a warning about this on their website.
