Finally today someone was on the other end. Heavy middle eastern accent, he kept saying "Medical Compensation" over a medication and was I taking any one of a list of medications he ran off. I asked him if he worked for an attorneys office and he said yes (of course it was a leading question) then I asked him what country he was calling from and his response was "oooohhhh God". I'm sure this is a scam of some sort.
Gee, this sounds wonderful if you are getting the calls on a smart phone. I am getting these phone calls on the landlline phone so your advice I suspect isn't worth a diddly. You really need to specify if this is for cell phones, smart phones, or what and not just assume everyone is using nothing but smart phones these days. ;)
I thought about buying one of the popular phone blockers as Comcast only allows you to block up to 12 numbers...which is not nearly enough. Problem with the phone blockers on sale is they automatically block unidentified numbers. Problem is that since doctors phone numbers are usually unidentified this won't work for me or anyone else out there expecting calls back from their health care provider. The phone blockers are a great idea but they need to make them so that they do "not" automatically block anything. You need to be the one blocking the callers. I know my doctor at Kaiser Permanente, her phone number is a blocked number and since sometimes we do a scheduled over the phone appointment I can't use anything that would automatically block her when she calls. I might add this is a great service as it saves me a co-payment and I get to discuss my issues with my doctor without any distractions. It's a truly great service and I would hope that more doctors do this.
They are asking you about your medications? How about you tell them they are violating HIPPA Laws. Also where are they getting any medical information about you? This is all "private" and it's highly illegal for anyone to have access to any of your medical information that is private between you and your health care provider. A doctor cannot even give information to a spouse or a parent if the dependent child is of a certain age. These laws are "very" strict!
