Received call from Merchant Services repeating what everyone is saying. However, the phone number I was given was 800-309-0524. What's a "card association" anyway?! Hope they don't get a cent from anyone.
Call came to our business line at 2PM on a Sunday. Recorded message said that they were calling about an upgrade to our credit card terminal and we had failed to respond to their earlier mailing. 1) I'm sure they called on a Sunday so they could leave a message 2) We have no credit card terminal 3) They never mailed anything. Would I ever even consider doing business with a company so disreputable? NOPE! Liars, scum and, more than likely, thieves.
Our business received a voice mail at 9:00 PM on Sunday night. A recorded message said they were "Merchant Services" and were following up on a letter they sent regarding a new credit card terminal (no letter was ever received). The message said the termininal was "free," and gave a toll free number to call: 866-559-9257. Since we don't use credit card terminals, it was clearly a scam.
