Have been called several times by a person claiming to be from U.S. Bank, and offering me a loan.  The last call, which went to voicemail, stated that I was approved for $5,000 and all I had to do was call the bank and verify my personal information.  Needless to say, I didn't do that!  I called U.S. Bank to report the call as potential fraud using its name.  The banker was very nice.  I mentioned that I suspected fraud because U.S. Bank operates only in the Midwest, while the calls were from a Florida number.  I also mentioned that at least one caller had an Indian accent and used wording that I'd seen before, in various iterations of what's often called the "Indian scam".  She assured me that the calls did not come from her bank -- it has no Florida offices, and does not handle loans that way.  She was also very familiar with the Indian scam, and agreed that the wording sounded like it was coming from those guys, who may not even be in the U.S., use "spoofed" phone numbers, and have several scams running.

All in all, do NOT give any information to anyone professing to be calling from U.S. Bank, unless you already have dealings with the bank.  Just hang up immediately.  Don't bother conversing with the caller; it will only raise your blood pressure and cause you to curse in front of your children.  If in doubt, call U.S. Bank on the number that is on its website, and talk to someone in the fraud department.
