who knows who they are, I have not answered my phone in 5 years due to these unending intrusions.

If you have caller id, which you do obviously do, why don't you simply answer calls from numbers which you are familiar with, rather than not having answered any calls for the last 5 years? You are paying for the service, so why not use it to the fullest? Then again, possibly you have no friends that would call you, only scammers.
