They took my 83 year old mom for a ride, I told her not to do it, but she was desperate to get out of her timeshare. I would love to help get these crooks!
Got a call from a man wanting to buy my timeshare as seen on an online posting I'd done some time back. He wants to use Direct Title and Finance in St. Petersburg, FL to handle the transaction. He says he's used them before and been happy with their service. They want me to pay a $500 deposit that will be refunded when the deal closes. I am very suspicious and can't seem to find out any info on the company. Anyone deal with them?
Debbie. Please think for a second. YOU have something to sell. They want YOU to pay an upfront fee. Why are you paying when you are selling? Do you plan to buy your own timeshare? Now, can you see the red flags yet? You can be sure that the next step would be for you to send money by Western Union. Tell the person to send $500. as a deposit to YOUR lawyer. It'll be like turning the light on & watching the roaches run! This is known as an "advance fee" scam. Usually you see this one on crooked Payday loans. "Send me $500. and I'll send you $10,000." Total scam.
Debbie, I received a call too, stating the same thing. I already had a call into my time share legal department on the possible sale of my timeshare. They told me to be very careful. When I told "John" I wasn't willing to give him any money for the item I'm selling he said then we can't do business with you, I said that was fine. I called back the man that wanted to buy the timeshare from me and explained how I didn't feel confrontable using this company. He said that he had left a deposit with them already and would call me back if he could get the money back. I told him the legal department from my time share would handle the resale if he is still interested. That was Saturday morning, I haven't heard back from anyone yet. Seems like a scam to me!
Exactly the same thing happend to me. After I have paid $500 by certified check to DT&F (The Owner/CEO - Chris Ricigliano) I lost a contact with them. I left nearly 5 messages on this phone, but nobody ever returned my calls.
I do not know how to get my money back.
Same here, word for word. I have contacted the BBB, filed a complaint, the FBI and every other I could think of. It may just be $500, but you can bet I will not let them get away with this. I will personally find Chris Ricigliano and go to his house if I have to to collect my money back.
File every complaint you can. Report them to the BBB, the FBI to investigate, fax call, haunt them until you get your money. I will be.
