I got a call from this number it was a non-profit charity called the officer down foundation.Now I'm not one for telephone solicitation I asked the caller for a web site he gave me www.officerdownfoundation.org.I took a look and they seem on the up and up.The main guy Chaplain Fair has some very good credentials.Next time I think I'll give them something.
I got one as well,some police group officer down foundation the caller was nice and polite and told me something I did'nt know that more COPS are killed by motorist than any other means including gunshots!! I also looked up a web site on them it was pretty informative they're a nation wide non-pro that helps any department or agency with a line-of-duty death from counseling to funeral costs.I dont know about you but to me they seem like a VERY worthy cause and I hope people support them
I just received a call from this number. Caller ID was "Officer Down Fo" which I assume is the Officer Down Foundation. The man started by asking, "Is this the lady of the house?" which put me off a little bit (not sure why) and then began to say he is calling to thank people in the area, etc. -- and then the call was disconnected. It was strange because I was just thinking, "ugh, why did I pick up the phone...I wish I could just hang up" and then...CLICK! Wasn't me, I swear! ;-) But a funny coincidence. Anyway, he hasn't called back. This may be a perfectly legitimate organization but I just have to really pick and choose to whom I give money...
My only comment is that many times these type of foundations only give a very small percent of their donations to the families, most the money goes to "administrative" costs (i.e. salaries).
