I get a call from these people at least 3 times a day. Today I get a call on Sunday? Since when do debt collector call on Sunday. They call and ask for a Stephanie, I don't even know a Stephanie. I have told them numerous times that they have the wrong number! i have told them numerous times not to call again. If I'm in a bad mood I do go off on them and they stop calling for a few days, but then it starts again.
These people are vultures. very rude and nosie as well. They call asking for my ex-daughter in law this morning (on a Sunday). They are trying to Harrass me into giving them her number.Very rude and pushy. i don't know her number, I told them numerous times in this one call, but they kept asking and asking. I told them I haven't talked to her in about 2 years and they continue to push my buttons. I asked them to stop calling! Even if I did know her number I wouldn't give it to them because they way they were treating me. They acted like they were high and mighty and Harresed me hopefully they don't call again.
I believe they can call until 9! If any later make a record of it. Also they have been after my husband for 3 years. He owes on a store credit card with a balance of 2500. They send threatening letters and gives a date to pay by. If you don't pay, they send another one and another one. The representatives are rude and act like you're scum if you can't pay. It's not that we don't want to its we don't have the funds. My husband had an amazing job making 80,000/ year until he got laid off unexpectedly. Since my husband had a good job I only worked part time at JC penny. We had a mortgage, a 5 year old, and 3 year old and a new born at home. We had to prioritize. We had to decide to pay our water, electric, food, diapers or pay on our credit cards. We lost both our vehicles and almost our house. Still after 4 year of this event we still can't get caught up. My husband took a new job that pays only 45,000/year. We have told these people that we don't have the money and they just threaten us over and over again. They have a bigger bark than bite though.
Legally they can't, but that never stopped this group. If they continue, which I think they well, you will need to send them a certified, return receipt "not Me" letter. In any case, you should immediately report them for the harassment, as they have been fined numerous times. You can also check into getting a lawyer and suing them for the harassment.

Sounds like they are going to hound you until a few months before the Statute of Limitions will expire since the last payment you made, after which they will turn it over to a lawyer so they can get a court judgement to seize money out of your bank account(s) before it is too late for them to successfully sue.
Go to your county civil court once or twice a month and see if there has been anything filed against you, as they probably won't tell you "this is your final notice" - they will let the court's process server deliver the news to you. You do not want a default judgement in their favor to happen. In big cities, though, parking is expensive and difficult to find near any courthouse.
