Got a call from this number purported to be Microsoft in Denver, CO inquiring about the status of my computer - note the number is a NJ area code.  An Indian sounding voice proceeded to ask me to check the configuration of my computer.  I safely went to the msconfig screen and he wanted to know if the security line showed as Stopped.  When I said yes, he wanted me to open www.1234computer which I did not.  I hung up and he called back; I did not answer.  I doubt if anyone legitimately would call from Microsoft to "check the security status of your computer" so be careful if you get a call like this.

I received a call from this number. He also told me he saw I was having computer issues and he wanted me to type in an address and keyword. I kept asking him what issues did he see. He could not answer. I asked him if he even knew who he was calling. He did not know. Yet he knew something was wrong with my computer. I kept asking him questions until finally he hung up on me. Nice try buddy.

This guy says his name is Micheal Williams.  He's ultra annoying.  Over the past 3 days, he has called maybe 2 dozen times.  He's angry because the scam he is trying to run on me is not working.  I have blocked his number so I guess the problem is partly solved.  Now my worry is that he'll give my number out to all his scammer friends.  He's SO annoying.

Yep, they try hard to get your money.  I know his end goal is to sell some security software.  He called me last fall, and I went along with him to try and figure out what his story was.  What happens is that the CPU generates usage data, and it's all legitimate.  But the scammer says that all this is evidence of someone hacking into my computer system.  Plus he instructed me to type in a website into my browser, this would give him permission remotely control my computer.   They just have no ethics.

Yep.  If you would have let it play out, he would asked you to let him remotely log into your computer.  I think everything the guy describes as "faults" is probably a legitimate occurrence in the Configuration of the computer.  He just wants to separate you from your money.
