I received a call from this number earlier today. I just called them back and I got a message which basically stated that "we are sorry we missed your call. your call is important to us. please leave your name and number and let us know when is the most convenient day and time to call. Searching so-called public records led me to many and varied web sites that guaranteed they could provide the phone number owner's name and address FOR A FEE!!! It doesn't interest me enough to PAY FOR INFORMATION THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD. If, per chance, you should find out who owns this number, please post that information here. I received a call from this number earlier today. The 732 area code was in the direct path of Hurricane Irene. As usual, no message was left. I called back, and a human voice answered with "thank you for calling United Recovery Systems". The call was then terminated. Was there a human being that actually answered a phone in a location that just went through a hurricane? The best available research indicates that United Recovery Systems is a debt collection agency. There are numerous complaints filed against them. There are also postings that indicate this agency is a legitimate agency that sometimes on the illegal side of the FDCPA. Who does one believe? I may be naive, but I would think that if a debt was legitimately sold to a third party collection agency, the agency would identify how they happen to come into possession if said debt. Also, I don't know for certain, but isn't there some kind of lwas that says if an accounts receivable is sold to another, that the original debt holder has to be notified that his/her debt has been sold to a third party? I ask this because I have an account on which I ALLEGEDLY owe money (which I DO NOT), and I am getting bills from a collection agency AND THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR!!!
A man called my home phone. Caller ID showed Freehold NJ and 732-410-7129. My husband answered the phone. The man asked to speak with me and specified my first and last name. When told that I was not here, he asked if he knew the person (called him by first and last name, the last name is the same as mine) and how he can contact him. My husband said that I do not have any connections with the person he asked.
