This number just called our business line and asked some questions for a marketing survey. Wanted to know my name and age. Then wanted to send me a gift card for my time to participate in the survey. No thanks, too good to be true.
It was a woman taking a survey, she asked questions about how I receive my news "TV, radio, internet or all of the above?" "Do you watch commercials for fast forward through them?" "Your first name only" "Are you in your 20's, 30's, 40's, ect?" and then she said for taking the survey I can either have a gift card to Target or Walmart, I declined either (starting to get suspicious), and then she said I'd get a free subscription to Cosmopolitan, Home and Garden or any magazine I'd like paid for by the publisher (extra suspicious now) and I declined that as well. She thanked me and hung up (she sounded disappointed there in the end).
Unfortunately, about a month after I added all my phone numbers to the Do Not Call Registry, I started receiving so many junk calls on all my lines. This totally pisses me off. I think some telemarketers actually go on the registry and get the phone lists from there. If a number is on the list, they see it as a legit number.
No, they do not. I got my cell number in 2002. I put the number on the Do Not Call list the day I got it. I get telemarketers, but rarely more than 5/month.
Your phone number was somehow released to the world, Maybe it happened when your credit card number was hacked. Maybe you entered a contest. Maybe it was sold by a charity you have donated to or a business you buy from.
