3 ROBOcalls in less than 45 seconds. Are these Luddites going for a record? Someone call Guinness Book!
I sadly picked up but the recording was to lower my credit card debt! They are confused.
Received call on my cell phone. I do not answer calls from unknown numbers, especially those out of my area code. No message left so it could not have been important! Will add this to my "block calls" list.
Same here, robo-call. I recognized the number as one that called before, so i simply picked up the receiver and hung it back up. Its a robo-call "phishing" for any personal info on unsuspecting victims for future scamming. A red-flag to a scam is when anyone asks for your Credit Card info, think about it, how will giving that info benefit you in a class-action lawsuit?? Credit Cards are for purchasing, and giving a complete stranger over the phone this info is certainly like telling them they can use your credit.
***NEVER trust ANYONE who calls you to be 100% honest on who they are when they ask for information.***
As for what to do about these types of callers...well, theres nothing anyone can really do about it. They are mostly originating in Foriegn countries and using the internet / apps to "spoof" fake numbers. Some use phone companies "services" for people to call back and appear as a real business in the US, but they are fakes. The phone companies make money off them and wont give out info to locate them, without a Court Order. Its too costly for Agencies to get one and discover they are outside the US. It would mean working with a Foriegn gov and they dont want to waste the manpower going after someone who committed an offense in another country. Many operate in large call centers that are legitimate Telemarketers hired by real companies here in the US. Those Telemarketers are also the same Scammers who call from the same phone number
So the ONLY way to fight back is to make as many people aware of these scams as possible and as long as there is a "sucker" to fall victim to their scams, they will continue to call us.
