I searched on YouTube for a recording that you hear when you call a disconnected number. I then set my voicemail to record a personal greeting and hit play. The recording repeated itself 4 times then I stopped the recording. So now when I see a number I don't recognize, rather than let it ring I quickly reject the call so it goes straight to voicemail. The recording plays 3 or 4 times before the "voicemail lady" takes over telling whomever to leave a message after the beep. But no telemarketer is going to sit there and listen to the recording 4 times, they will disconnect during the first one. All my friends and family know that if I can't answer their call, my voicemail will pick up after the recording plays the "disconnected" thing. I've actually been getting less calls. However, this is on my private cell. I cannot do this for the cell phone I use for work or clients are going to think the company's phone is disconnected so I am still getting these calls through the business phone. I block them as they come in but then new numbers pop up. Very annoying.
called number back at 11:45 p.m. just to hear the response "All of our highly trained agents are currently helping other customers, Please remain on the line and someone will be with you shortly." Oh really? at 11:45? This mantra repeated itself about 5 times then finally disconnected. Or you could have the option of getting removed from call list.
