Caller ID displayed Encinitas, CA, however caller had very thick foreign accent, with American name. Call sounded like it originated from overseas. Caller told me my home qualified for Energy discount, etc (must be solar seller). Caller just kept reading from script, despite me trying to tell her she was mistaken and I lived in an apartment. Caller politely ended call and apologized.
The caller attempted to reach me but was blocked by the "Mr. Number" App on my Samsung phone. "Mr. Number" identified the caller as a solar salesman scam. The call occurred over a VOIP line which prevented it from appearing on my Samsung call log. Calls which originate over the VOIP lines from the internet can apparently create fake numbers to appear on the inbound calls. Those fake numbers do not appear on the Call Logs of my Samsung phone. These calls are bypassing the normal channels of the telephone systems. However, "Mr. Number" seems to catch them and prevents them from getting through to my phone. T-Mobile states that they are unable to stop these calls, but has offered to change my phone number.
