Called my phone several times for several months. I did not recognize the number nor did anyone leave any messages. Finally, after about 3 months I decided to answer to find out who was calling me so persistently. I tried answering 3 times but only got disconnected after I said "hello". I called the number back today and the representative replied to me the company was called "Assistance Support Center" which she said, services consumers who carry defaulted balances with IRS, Student Loans, etc. I told her I did not carry any such balances and she said "Ok, thanks" and immediately terminated the call. I will investigate this further and if necessary file a complaint against this company to the Attorney General, BBB and whoever else will listen.
Call from 760-254-0537, caller ID read "California". Caller said: "Hi this is Ariana with the SSI support center. How are you doing today?". I hung up, as I just got my new cell phone and I haven't given the # to friends or relatives yet!
I returned the call to this number to find out where they were calling from the guy that answered was very rude kept asking me am I returning a missed call I kept asking him where are you calling from he kept getting smart and said are you returning a missed call so finally I said yes I'm returning a missed call now where are you calling from the guy goes now was that really that hard I told him I don't have to talk to him with his disrespect I told him I asked you a question where are you calling from before I would give you any information and he says I asked you are you returning a missed call that to me his wanting to get into this disrespectful discussion or argument shows me this is from some type of solicitation or scam be warned this can not be a legitimate call from any legitimate business not the way this guy was very rude
My caller ID app showed a guy named Bert J. Potter from a landline in Yermo, CA. I don't know good ole Bert so I didn't answer, and he didn't leave a message.
They've been calling for a while (didn't recognize caller ID) so I didn't answer but finally decided to out of curiosity. Was a big mistake. They call under false pretenses indicating that they are a group which helps people who owe the IRS money and are under hardship. Asked if they charged anything and they said they didn't. Since I have a tax problem, I thought I'd listen to them further. After transferring me to 2 more people, they started asking personal questions (supposedly in order to see if my hardship qualifies, such as income, birthday of myself and my wife) they then say they need to talk to their lawyers to see if they'll take my case. They then ask if I'd be willing to pay the lawyers and that they're going to get a quote. I then say since they got all the details regarding my financial situation, how can they expect me to pay any lawyers when I have difficulty every month making ends meet? Then, the woman I was speaking got rude and hung up. Never again, my mistake and I won't make it again. These people just try to suck the remaining blood out of people who are in bad enough shape. I'd like to know who they are and would definitely register a complant.
