Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
Do not speak to these people!!! They are pretending to be the irs and trying to tell you if your don't pay them right now they will issue a warrent for your arrest!!! It's all a scam!!!
Received a call from a George Belowski from the State Treasury Inspector Generals office with the IRS. Caller had a middle eastern accent. He said I had four felony charges of fraud and had to pay almost $5000 or the police were going to come and arrest me. They were very professional and had all my personal information. Very scary! I asked for an address of a local IRS office that I could go to in person and pay it and he got very nasty and said the cops were on their way. I hung up and a minute later a call came in and when I answered it, the middle eastern woman said she was from the police department and had just received the warrant for my arrest. The number on the caller ID WAS my local PD phone number. I don't know how they did it. Now they have been calling me all day. Watch out!!!
Fix that by blocking the number or ignoring the call entirely. Report the call to the real IRS and if you're worried, contact your police department. They spoofed the number with your local police's to scare you, however, they're all impostors. If you've received nothing in the mail, all's well. Notice he got nasty when you put him on defense asking for an address. He doesn't know because he's a fraud.
Thanks Justincacse! I am going to call the IRS tomorrow and file with the local PD. And actually, I did get something in the mail awhile back and I thought it looked fake and didn't bother with it. I'm going to find that letter and see if the information matched up.
