I just got a call from this number and they claim to be with "Legal Affairs at the US Treasury". Some "action" has already been started, but they can't give me any information because it involves my husband and the information is under his name. Whatever.
I received a call from this number pretending to be "the Department of Legal Affairs at the US Treasury Department." It is a pretty obvious scam in which someone pretends to be an agent who is going to have you arrested for supposed back taxes after you failed to respond to attempts to have a summons delivered. They are belligerent and use scare tactics to try to make you transfer money to them. Caller had a thick Indian accent and used two different names - John Rogers and John Davenport. This scam has been well documented online, including with an official notice by the Department of the Treasury.
Had a similar message left on the answering machine. Gentleman caller had thick accent & was very difficult to understand. Used the name John David & claimed to be from Department of legal affairs. Most obviously a scam
