I answered, its a collection agency. The first thing they ask you is to confirm your DOB and last 4 of your social security number. I told them there's not way Im confirming my personal information with them unless they tell me what debt they're referring to. They said by law they can't tell you what debt you owe w/o confirming your personal info with them.
We went in circles for about 10 minutes since I wouldn't confirm my info with a total stranger who just called me out of the blue. They finally gave up. Too bad cause Im happy to pay a debt that I don't know about, but I need to know what the debt is before I give up my information.
