No.. it doesn't. Just because a debt collector is calling YOU doesn't mean that YOU owe someone money. Do NOT sprew such incorrect information on line in which you do not know.
Debt collectors come in both good and bad versions. Good ones will do their job and not be harassing about it. They'll call because they want to offer a debtor the ability to pay off their debt. OFTEN times, too, the debtor will be able to pay off for less than the original amount.
However, there are bad colelctors as well. JUST because a collector has called you doesn't necessarily mean that you owe a debt. For one, they CAN have mistaken identity. If you knew HOW they often get phone numbers you'd understand why. The computer systems they use to match up a debtor to a contact isn't always valid in matching. And also, it's possible that the person getting the call may be one of the people that was placed as a REFERENCE on the original credit application OF / BY the debtor.
So get it right.. don't tell people that because a debt collector called that it means you owe a debt!
What good does it do, whether the caller is a debt collector, loan shark, scumbag or mafia kingpin, if all they do is call and call and call and call and call and never leave a message or identify who they are or answer when you pick up or know who you are or ask you why are you calling when you answer their call and then immediately put you on hold and then get someone on the line who immediately slams you up against the wall, makes moral judgements against you, doesn't identify himself before he or she starts busting your knee caps and gets you to hand over all your pertinent, sensitive, private information and then says you owe someone you've never heard of, didn't know existed and wouldn't ever meet if you lived to be a thousand years old money in the amount of past due, overdue, unpaid and if you don't pay up your wages will be attached, garnished, remanded and you will be harrased, sued and drug behind a donkey in the town square! Debt collectors are among the lowest form of scum on the face of the planet. You see the carpet? Debt collectors are the scum that exists below it!
