I got it too, it's GCI? I called the number back and they said thanks for calling back GCI, but I dont' get why they would have a MN area code. Obviously I'm in Alaska too....
I have gotten a call from them previously, as well as again today.
They previously called trying to sell me services I already had. I explained to them that I already had each of the services they were offering me. Then they eventually said it sounds like you already have our premium "fill in service name here" and said goodbye.
They also appeared to lack information about me that they would already have if they were truly GCI.
So, I didn't give them anything useful other than to tell them I already had the service they were selling.
I then immediately called GCI on their direct line, and spoke with the reps there. And, they told me that they would not have anyone calling from an out of state number.
If you see that number on your caller ID, I would ask them for their name and extension and how to reach them again if you called the normal 1-800-800-4800 number that is actually GCI.
If nothing else, ask them to put a note in your file (without telling them your information since they should already know who you are and your account numbers). So, without giving them any useful information to commit fraud with, tell them you want them to put a note in your file of the promotion you've been promised by them, and then call GCI directly on their real and confirmed 800 number and ask them to look up the note and give you that promotional deal.
I absolutely don't trust them when they have an out of state number, are apparently missing vital information about me (that I know GCI has on file), and especially since they have contacted me. I see it as a likely scam trying to get information out of GCI customers.
