Received a call from this number with a recording saying that I had won a vacation. I knew this was a scam, but I played along, so I waited for an agent to answer. When an agent came on the line, he identified themselves as Caribbean Destinations, said that I won a promotional vacation, and said this was absolutely NOT random, I must have entered the drawing at a shopping center kiosk (which I didn't because I never do, and in fact I don't go to malls). He asked my name, and I said "you called me, and if this wasn't random, then you should know my name." He said the computer didn't allow him to see that information. So I gave him a fake number. He asked if I was between the ages of 35 and 65, and I said yes. He said "great, because I can't qualify you for this if you aren't." Then he asked if I had a credit card number in my own name, and I said no, and he said "Oh I'm sorry, the computer will not let me qualify you unless you have a credit card." I said "of course you won't, because this is a horsesh*t scam to try and get my credit card information, I was just trying to see how long I could keep you on the line so that you couldn't rip off other people." He hung up.
After he hung up, I redialed the number (it's local, and the first three digits are the same as my mobile number), and the number belongs to someone around here. The caller ID number was spoofed. I told them that their number was being used by a scammer to try and get people's credit card information. This is the third such call I've received spoofing innocent people's numbers, all using numbers in this area code with the same 3 digit exchange as my own mobile; one of those other numbers they're spoofing is 763-443-1558.
