I had the same problem, a bill collector looking for Michael the Deadbeat calling my cell up to 6 times each day. After I figured that out I told the caller "I know you are <creditor> . Michael does not live here. You have GOT to stop calling here". It worked. After that little speech I got one more call for Michael, a third party debt collector.
Yes, Convergent Outsourcing another debt collector, appears that state and federal consumer protection rules, regulations, and laws don't apply to their predatory business tactics and personnel. Wonder what debt collector network they fall under? http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/busines ... enton-wa-501066#
On January 14, 2013, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding billing and customer service issues. Consumers allege they are billed by Convergent Outsourcing Inc for a debt they do not owe; when they call the creditor, they get confirmation they do not owe anything. Consumers claim they receive numerous calls from Convergent Outsourcing Inc, but when they attempt to return the calls, they cannot reach an operator and must leave a message. Consumers also allege the company will not send a copy of the collection letter when requested.
This number calls me sometimes up to 10 times in one day looking for someone else. They refuse to believe me when I tell them they have the wrong number! I had to block them from calling me, but the missed calls still show up in my calling list. They need to stop harassing me!
