This company evidently calls anyone who matches a first initial and last name with the debtor they are trying to contact. I filed a complaint with www.donotcall.gov and told them this company should not be allowed to call any number on the do not call list unless they are 100% certain the debtor lives there. I do not know the person they requested.
Local Bill Collector-left no other identifying information about whom they where attempting to collect for. I have no debts with a local lender. They left a very long message on the recorder. They then called my cell phone and left the same long message with no company name or whom they were collecting for. The only substance was that they were a collection agency and that they were attempting to collect a debt. No letters have been received from a collection agency to establish the validity of this debt.
I keep getting calls at my office - direct line - from this number, only no one says a thing, they just breathe really heavy for a few minutes then hang up.
If you answer it, when asked they say they are really calling from Houston TX ... if you call it back & ask, same thing. United Recovery Service (they say) at the "request" of a ccard company
Basically, these guys "phantom" their real number under the nuts thought that a local number might be answered, I guess. CID says "Lilburn GA" & number.
keep getting calls from this phone number. Its 830pm and i requested my phone to be a private number. not sure how these guys are able to call my house.
I don't believe they are allowed to leave a voicemail on any phone that states it is about collecting a debt. If I am correct, the law assumes that messages are not considered private, as someone besides the person being called may have access to the messages. Think about an asnwering maching. Anyone within earshot can hear the message so they are only allowed to say "a personal matter" or something to that effect. We all know that these scumbags have no regard for the individual rights of anyone and they totally TRASH the laws. I have filed several suits for just these type things and WON. I encourage you to retain the messages and ask an attorney or research online what rights they have violated in your state.
