I think this was a "fishing expedition" to see if phone numbers are good--after which they will be sold to telemarketers. The caller ID was XXXXXXX, which is an obvious spammer. If you or your answering machine picked up, you just got confirmed.

The call center must have just cranked up this outgoing number. There is no such Area Code as 773. :)
