I answered thinking it was a call I was expecting. It said it was Lisa from some green saving survey company and that I won. [***] scammers just wont' stop.
Anonymous call from 773-801-7331.
It did not display the name of any person,
nor the name of a company.
Normally we let our answering system handle
anonymous calls, but in this case I was expecting
a call and answered without looking at the display.
It was a recorded message offering a free cruise,
or perhaps more likely, the possibility
of wining a free cruise, in exchange for
answering the questions of a survey.
I declined.
Got a call from 773-801-7331 on my cell today at 9:15AM. No name for the caller on Caller ID, and didn't recognize the number, so I didn't bother to answer. Left no voicemail. I'm on the No Call List but, just like every other useless Government agency, it doesn't work, just spends our tax dollars.
Explain how you expect the Do Not Call list to work.
The Do Not Call list is just a list, that telemarketers are required by law to honor.
It is not a call blocker.
Do you really expect criminals to obey this particular law when their scams are already illegal ?
And investigations take a lot of time, effort, and hence, money.
The complexities of the deregulated telephone industry's equipment and its interconnections make it hard to track a spoofed number back to its origin.
