I just posted something on Craigslist and got a text from this phone number, thanks to these posts, and common sense, I just sent back F*&k off, retard. Idiot scammers.
I'll prefer to come pay cash, but am leaving town today for a job. Send your full name and address for payment by Money order you will get in 3 to 4 days and pick up subsequently. I will add thirty dollars for the delay. John
. . . and there will be a 6 - 8 week hold on the item when you do not pay in CASH. Yes, even in the 21st century it can take 6 - 8 weeks for checks and money orders to clear your bank. For checks, usually the bank name/address are good but the transit number at the bottom is fake. Money orders are usually just fake. For any item you are selling in Craigslist or Kijiji just put this in your ad "No text, no Paypal, no check/money order - Cash & in person". Cuts the dead wood. Should you ever get a check & you're not sure if it's good DO NOT deposit it. Take it to the Bank & have them inspect it. Depositing a bad check will give you a lot of grief & expense.
10-10-14...Yes, just a got a bunch of texts with this number from STACY saying she was leaving town today for a job and would send me a Postal Money Order to cover cost of a $750 book I have on Craigslist. Wanted my name and address. Message almost exact as above with $50 extra given for the 'delay'. Texted her 3 times to CALL me but she would not. Must think I'm a dummy. I ain't. Area code is in Massachusetts. I have same item on ebay and if somebody wants it THAT bad, they can go get it on ebay and use PayPal. To hell with this dummy.
Just got a text (3x in 1/2 hour) just like you got from this number. I have a $750 book listed in 3 cities on Craigslist. I also have it on ebay, so if anyone REALLY wants it that bad they can go that route. Same number, same MO. Leaving town to check out a job, would send USPS Money Order, subsequent pick up of item. But...she offered me $50 extra bucks, not $30! "She" (Stacy) wouldn't call back so I texted her saying that we know what's up, saying her number is all over the internet associated with a fraud.
This is a Google Voice / Craigslist scammer. They want you to send your name and address to them and they will send you a money order for your product, then they want you to ship it to them. I told this scammer to go F%$# them self.
