I had a house phone installed and I swear all I recieve is telemarket calls. I am really asking myself why does the phone company allow these and restricted or unknown numbers to reach their valued customers. I have been recieving calls from this number with the name Crossfire since the phone service was activated. I pay for an antivirus program for my computer and since all new phone are also digital, why cant something be made to block out these pest or people who have nothing to do but call and annoy people.
Same as the others we recieved this phone call almost everyday from the time we moved in and finally got tired of it. We called it back and it said all of our operators are currently assisting other customers at this time someone will be with you shortly and plays music for a couple of seconds and then hangs up. But I am persistent and called it like three or four times in a row and finally got somebody to on the line. It is some type of magazine or newspaper (at least that is what they said) and told them we wanted the phone calls to stop. So far we haven't recieved a phone call from them again but on the caller id it will say crossfire. I also did a little research on the phone number and it came back as a number from Birmingham,Ma. It had more info but didn't want to pay to go any further. So I have found that putting your number or numbers on the national do not call list seems to help rather well. So give it a try it should help with all of the telemarketing calls out there.
I get calls from this number every week. It has been going on for weeks or months. If I answer I just hear some clicking noises then it hangs up. If I don't answer, my voice mail records the clicking noises.
I was getting up to 7 calls a day from them from two different phone numbers.
They are a either the Los Angeles Newspaper Group or a company that markets for them. The newspapers owned by them include the Pasadena Star, The Torrance/South Bay Daily Breeze, The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, The Long Beach Press Telegram, The Los Angeles Daily News, The Redlands Daily Facts, The San Bernardino Sun, The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, and the Whittier Daily News. They're trying to sell you the paper. If you call back a message says all operators are busy and then a few seconds of music play before it hangs up on you. If you call back several times (took me about 6) you can get someone to answer.
