Dammit! I hate scammers! Same thing happened to me. I have a piano listed on craigslist and received a text asking to purchase the item. After a little negotiation, this scammer offered to mail a check and asked me to give the rest to the movers. People suck!
I really think that this is number is a scammer buddy to my story below. Be aware! See below:
I had a different number that texted me (it was 937-343-5802--Ohio area) for an ad I place on craigslist. I was selling a bike RACK and they were asking about my BIKE for sale. That was my first clue this was a scam. I corrected them on the item I was selling and they were like, "yes, I mean the bikerack." Said they lived in my city but had a new job as security agent in Fairborn (wherever that is). They were wanting it for their kid supposedly, and said they would send a certified check. Offered $50 extra to hold it and would have their own "shipper" get it. Whatever. This is the second time I've been scammed on Craigs list, and it was similar with the whole "private shipper" deal and poor english. I wasn't falling for it. I told the person I would have to receive the money first which they agreed to and wanted my name and address. I didn't respond. I waited 2 days and then the person texted me again asking if the BIKE (not bikeRACK) was still for sale. I told them NO!
I THINK this original number (the 937 one) may be affiliated with the other number 781-309-7915 that I am reporting here. I think this way because this 781 person had texted me not long after the 937 number person had when I didn't respond to the "need your name and address" comment. And THEY were ALSO asking me if I still had a BIKE for sale. I can tell they must not know what a bikeRACK is. Criminals are stupid.
Too much coincidence in timing and in asking if I'm selling a BIKE not a bike RACK. Probably scam buddies. This 937 number person said they were named Michael. Google says the number is from Boston area. BEWARE!!!!
Thank You. I did receive a text from this number and it is coming up as state of Mass. I do not sale any out state either. PLEASE BEWARE OF SCAMMERS ON CRAIGSLIST. THE NUMBER TEXTING ME IS 781-309-7645.
I had something listed on Craigslist as well and this same number contacted me and asked for my name and address so they can send a certified check. It didn't feel right to me, so I decided to goggle the number before I sent my information. Glad I did that!. Thanks for reporting the number Jen.
Got a text from this number asking about something I am selling on Craigslist. I texted back that the item was still available. Within an hour I began receiving sales calls from Sacramento?? I dont think its a coincidence.
Just got a textfrom the creeper on Craiglist about a piano I am selling. He or she offered to send me a check for the piano, and extra for the movers. Then they told me to cash the check and pay the movers the extra money. Then they asked for my address. Yeah right, not buying it, and told them they were scammers, and shame on them. So sad that people try to do this to people. Jerks.
