We got a call again from this number today at 11:40 am, and it was again blocked by our call blocker. The caller ID is MASSACHUSETTS. This time when I called back I heard the same recording as I did the first time (see my posting of 28 Jan 2015). Since this is the third time they called in less than a month, they are apparently slow learners.
Chimney cleaning scan. Said it was "Kevin". This is a live person. These chimney cleaning scams have been linked to burglaries, particularly of the elderly.
We got a call from this number today at 2:19 pm and didn't answer. No voice mail message was left. This must be a spoofed number, because when I called back (our number is blocked by default on outgoing calls) I heard a recording that said "We're sorry. Your call cannot be completed as dialed." The number will be added to our call blocker.
We got a call again from this number today at 11:04 am. This time it was blocked by our call blocker. As I wrote last month, the number must be spoofed. When I called back this time I got a slightly different recording that said "We're sorry. You have reached a number which has been disconnected or is no longer in service." This is certainly indicative of a scam.
