These criminals, in order to avoid detection, have used many aliases, including, but not limited to: card member services, consumer services, first consumer, member services and account services. Also to be scrutinized, are the unscrupulous vendors who sell blocks of numbers to these and other scammers, knowing full well that they are being used for illegitimate purposes. Go get em!
786-219-0425 has called from two diffrent #'s with this area code; never left a message. I called the #'s back on a secure line at work and both #'s had been disconnected. It seems as if these scammers are trying diffrent phone numbers so just dont answer any calls from 786 area code..its the same people trying to get u to answer. I'm going to make sure I am on the No Call list!
This phone number called my voicemail and a recording came on instructing me to hit 9 but I didnt so it disconnected. Put unwanted calls on donotcall.gov but you must first register your number.
Second call from these scum.
For all you wanting something to be done about them:
- they are criminals and care nothing about the law
- they are calling via the internet and spoof the 'from' number to a phone that is not in service
- the phone company has no legal authority to do anything about them
- it is too hard/expensive for the government to track them down, and they change numbers regularly
- they are probably not even in the United States, and the country they are in is happy if they steal from Americans.
The best you can do is block each number as it comes along, or just don't answer calls you don't know.
Maybe someday Congress will create a legal authority to work with the phone and internet companies to try and combat this, but not unless it becomes a sufficiently serious problem.
