I received a robo message on my voice mail that apparently began before VM started recording because it said, ". . . before legal action is taken against you." It then left the same number as appeared on my ID, marked only as FL, USA.
Apparently they learned that the heavy accents weren't working for them so now are using a female robo caller.
After reading the above notes, I tried to call the number back just to see what happened. I received a message that it was a non-working number! So, why is a recorded message calling me with a number that can't be returned? Just doesn't make sense - they aren't going to be able to steal much money that way!
I figured my return call would add me to their call-back list, so I called numerous times, then blocked. I am tempted, though, to remove the block just so I can play with them, sort of like a cat with his catnip mouse. :-) Sometimes, if I have the time, I can have a lot of fun with them!
My call came on August 17th 2016. Supposedly IRS agent, Stephan Fleming called. (His misspelled his last name) He had a thick accent. The call came from the same number.
Stephan offered his badge number and when I asked if there was an incident number, he gave me one. He said we have an error on our tax return that was determined to be intentional and they were going to take us to court. I asked which courthouse, but he couldn't tell me.
He said the error was for 819.22, before fees and fines. I asked if we would receive anything in writing. He said not at this time.
I was baiting him and asked if we could just pay it and oddly, he said he needed to speak to my husband, yet he called my cell phone.
Get this, while typing this post, I received another call from the 786-248-1084 number. This time, I received the recorded message you spoke of from the American women stating that she was from the IRS and they were going to take us to court.
