An automated message claims to be from the IRS stating they are filing a lawsuit against me and requesting I call their department back at 786-288-0712.  This appears to be a SCAM call since the IRS is not going to disclose a pending lawsuit by a recorded phone message.  I can only find a few other claims based on this number so it appears to be fairly new.

From the IRS website " https://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Phone-Scams- ... 5-Filing-Season  "    - "If someone calls unexpectedly claiming to be from the IRS with aggressive threats if you don't pay immediately, it's a scam artist calling,” said IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. "The first IRS contact with taxpayers is usually through the mail. Taxpayers have rights, and this is not how we do business."

The old IRS scam recorded message.  If I had time, I would tremble in my shoes.
Called number from blocked line.  Indian accented IRS responded.   Did not feel like playing.

Obviously they are NOT the IRS....

I kept calling these people back and talking to different folks. They called pretending they were the IRS, saying the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me. So, I called back and they wanted my phone number and name. I didn't give them my name but did tell them my phone number. I asked them if it was a scam and they hung up. I called back and they let me know that they were happy to help me, that I had called the IRS claims department. I asked for their name and he said "David." I told him that I'd be happy to meet him in his office in Miami since I have family there and am visiting. "Why would you come to the office?" "Because it's better to meet about these sort of things in person, right?" He hung up on me so I called back one last time. The man answered saying
"Hello?"
I said "Hey, I am calling because I got disconnected from David, are you David?" "
"No, I am Brian Harris"
"Okay well, I'm calling because the IRS was calling me..."
"This is not the IRS. But I like your voice, I'd like to talk to you. What's your name?"
"This isn't the IRS? But you called me and I've spoken to a few of your representatives...."
"No, this isn't the IRS. We were trying to scam you, but I don't want to scam you anymore. You have a sexy voice, I'd like to talk to you."
"What's your name? Brian?"
"Brian Harris..."
"where are you from, Brian?"
"I am not from the US."
"Oh, Brian Harris is a very American-kind-of name..."
So anyway.. it went on for awhile.. Then I started asking him "Why do you want to ruin peoples' lives?"
"Excuse me?"
"You want to scam people. You are trying to destroy their lives by stealing their identities..."

He admitted to being a scam artist. They have apparently disconnected the number....
Anyway, it wasn't the first time these people called me. Just a couple of jerks trying to screw people over.
